Into the remote Sudanese Red Sea

My Sudan journey followed the Red Sea by liveaboard, reaching offshore reefs and historic sites far from the busier Egyptian routes.

The journey

A more remote Red Sea chapter

After diving in Egypt, continuing south into Sudan extended the Red Sea story into a more remote setting. The liveaboard format made it possible to reach offshore reefs and historic areas that cannot be reduced to a shore-based itinerary.

I have not added specific site names, dates or animal encounters that are not yet confirmed in the material available. The final detail will come from my logbook and photographs, while the article remains an honest first-person record of the journey I made.

The Sudanese Red Sea

The regional map shows the long Red Sea coastline and the offshore area reached by liveaboard. Select a labelled pin for further dive information.

Each marker is anchored by its latitude and longitude and attached to the centre of its pin, so it remains on the same site while the map is zoomed or moved. Confirm entry points and navigational coordinates with the operating dive centre.

Following the Red Sea farther south

Sudan belongs in the journal as a distinct journey, not an extension labelled only as the Red Sea. Its distance, liveaboard rhythm and offshore character gave it an identity of its own.
